It's a much anticipated race!! This was our 1st official time to create and participate!
This one is Josh's! #1!!!!!!!!!!!
Josh drew the shape of the racecar he wanted on a block of wood and the teenage son of his Cub Scout Leader cut it with a band saw. Then Daddy and Josh had a blast painting it and getting it in tip top shape for the race. The night before the race... Josh and Dave went to Wal-Mart a bought some little "weights" and a Scale-- they drilled holes in the top of the car and kept weighing it to get it to the maximum weight!
It was quite the RACE-- Parents and kids are quite serious about it!! Lots of cheering going on!
We're neck and neck! WHO WILL WIN??
Watching the Race-- Jillian was big cheerleader for Josh! She was LOUD!!
Here some quick video of the racing fun! I think Josh came in about 5th overall! His car was one of the fastest!! oh-- and Jordan was a "helper"-- you'll see...

Way to go Josh and Dave.. Mike and I had a lot of fund when he did Pinewood Derby too. We did the same thing you did. weights, smoothing the wheels so they were round, smooth on the inside toward the wood, polished the axles, used graphite for lubricant. While testing our car before the heats, we noticed it was sort of slow! Wouldn't even go all the way! LOL So then Mike wen over to this guy named Dan Fix who had some Amway Silicone spray and we shot some in each wheel! It was amazing. The combination of the graphite and the silicone made our car like rocket... it shot down to the end of the track and hit the stop and and went end over end!!! i was afraid it was not going to hold up to the abuse until we could beat everybody. It did tho and we blew off about 20 other cars to win it all. Lots of fun. LOL. Glad you were one of the winners!!
LOL I remember Mike's car-- it was painted a metallic blue color! I remember the graphite and special spray too-- however-- that stuff is prohibited now! You would be disqualfied if you use the lubricant now!
Wooooow, how fun!! His little car looks so cool!
